Welcome from the Headteacher Mrs Phelan
Welcome to Cullompton Community College, a caring, friendly and high achieving community of learners of approximately 700 students aged 11-16.
We are proud and delighted that an inspection by Ofsted in March 2017 confirmed Cullompton Community College to be a ‘good school.’ This follows hugely successful outcomes in GCSE examinations showing year on year improvement.
Cullompton Community College celebrates excellent GCSE results under the new, tougher examination system August 2017.
Students and staff at Cullompton Community College are absolutely delighted with this year’s impressive GCSE results, the first under the new examination system which is deliberately designed to be tougher.
In what is described as a ‘year of volatility’ CCC students have the highest ever level of A*/A grades with over a third of students gaining A*/A in English and above a quarter of students doing so in maths. The new 9-1 grade results in English and maths combined are high with 68% achieving 4+ and 45% achieving above the new standard of 5+. English scored 80% and maths 69% whilst success in the Ebacc subjects of English, Mathematics, Humanities and Languages exceeded expectations at 44% and 68% of students (a very similar number to previous years) have attained at least 5 passes at the equivalent of C and above including English and Maths. Science performed exceptionally well achieving 100% across the board in the separate Sciences of Physics, Chemistry and Biology with the overall percentage in the category of two Sciences being 71% A*-C, showing a 9% point increase on 2016.
Results confirm that students did magnificently despite the more challenging content of this year’s examinations as a result of top quality, specialist subject teaching and our consistent belief in aiming high, whilst working hard to achieve the best for students at all ability levels.
As Headteacher I am proud of this stunning set of results achieved during a time of nationally increasing challenge making the outcomes of our students all the more impressive.
I would like to thank all the students and parents for their commitment and dedication and the staff of CCC for always being prepared to go the extra mile. This was your day.

OfSTED: March 2017
“The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection. Standards have continued to improve and, in 2016, Year 11 pupils made strong progress placing the school in the top 10% of schools in the country for key stage 4 results. This is a result of your concerted efforts to improve the life chances for your pupils. Cullompton Community College is a caring school where pupils thrive. As a result, pupil numbers continue to rise.”
“In lessons and in pupils’ work, there is good challenge for the most able pupils. Their work is of a high standard and is well presented. In many subjects, pupils engage in high quality conversation and debates.”
“Pupils who spoke to inspectors were animated about the support the school provides to help them understand opportunities, the skills needed and how to achieve their career ambitions.”
“Pupils and their parents report the school to be a safe place. Pupils who spoke to inspectors talked of a culture of tolerance and acceptance. They enjoy opportunities when other pupils share their experiences, including those who have different cultures and faiths.”
As a successful school we move into an expanding future as a centre of educational excellence where all can, ‘Learn More and Achieve the Best.’ We place great value on partnership and good relationships between parents, carers, students, staff and governors. Through our partnerships including our Co-operative Trust of local primary schools, education and business associates we ensure that all are equally valued, and that achievement, success and opportunity lie at the heart of all we do.
I hope that you find the information on this website helpful and informative, however, if you would like to find out more about the school in action visit us to ‘Learn More’ at any time, you will always be welcome.
