All parents, staff and friends of the College are members of the PTFA and are eligible for nomination either as officers or committee members.
The aims of the PTFA are:
- to develop understanding between parents, teachers and others associated with the work of the College.
- to encourage activities of all kinds to promote the education and welfare of all students attending the College.
- to keep parents informed about developments in education, both locally and nationally.
- to assist the College financially, so that students can enjoy certain facilities not available through County funding.
PTFA meetings are held at the school termly, they usually last no more than a couple of hours and start at 7pm. It is a friendly meeting, where parents, teachers and friends are welcome to listen and join in with conversations about school accomplishments and current and forthcoming activities. Teachers put forward requests for additional funds for specific projects, equipment or resources needed for the extra curricular education. The committee allocate previously raised funds to those projects and plan future fundraisers to keep the cashflow coming in.
If an event takes more planning then additional sub meetings are held at the pub or at somebody’s house.
This meeting is always very informative and a nice way to meet other parents and if you wish, you can get involved with the fundraising. If you cannot attend the meeting you can always ask to be copied on the minutes of the meetings by email and/or follow existing and forthcoming activities on the school website.
New ideas and suggestions are always welcomed. Please do contact the chairperson via an email to the school.
The Chair of the Association can be contacted through the College. Parents will be informed of and invited to a wide variety of education and social events during the year through the College Newsline and via the College Website.
Meetings are a great opportunity to meet some other parents and staff. We discuss current new ventures for the school, share ideas for fundraising and plan dates that the school needs our help at, i.e. refreshments at school events and meetings.
We look forward to meeting new faces. Bring a friend and get to know us. Take a look at the site cullompton.devon.sch.uk/PTFA for more information.
