AT CCC we believe in making the most of the natural environment. With the permission of the Environment agency, DCC land diversity and Fisheries officers we have created a nature reserve complete with a decking for pond dipping (adopted by a pair of mallards), and natural habitats for hedgehogs, mini-beasts, birds and otter. The foliage and planting lends itself to sensory walks, creative writing, personal, social, and health education, art inspiration and installation, and soil and water analysis for Science. Students in the Design and Technology department have made bird, butterfly and hedgehog boxes and a variety of native wildflowers, grasses and oxygenating water plants have been planted. The area is a great benefit in encouraging plant and animal diversity and a unique source of learning and appreciation.
