On Wednesday 8th June, Year 10s visited Petroc College for an 'Enterprise in a Box' session.
We were met by the friendly staff from the Business Studies Department who took us to our room and introduced us to James from MyBnk, the presenter of Enterprise in a Box.
Students split into teams of six and enjoyed an entertaining and stimulating presentation from James. He talked them through the differences between a business, a charity and a social enterprise. His message stressed that it is not important to know, at this stage, what you want to do or be in the future, but it is essential to pick up key skills...

With a view to exploring the opportunities available after GCSEs, Years 9 and 10 attended an assembly led by a member of Staff from Bicton College.
The emphasis was on the many different apprenticeships and courses available to students.
Following the presentation, Year Head Mrs Selley led a "Celebrating Success" Assembly, handing out awards to students who had excelled last term in many different aspects of College life.

In a Yr 10 Assembly Mr. Sturtivant introduced the Work Experience Programm to students.
During the last week of Summer Term the YR10s are offered the exciting opportunity of gaining first hand knowledge and experience of the world of work. They can choose from a wide variety of local businesses to work with - in the past students have worked for Estate Agents, a local Vet, a Car body workshop, Primary schools, Catering - to name just a few.
