Rachel Wilson is our latest Word Millionaire. Rachel has read an impressive 1,583,418 words since September! This is a huge achievement.
Rachel with her Trophy
Rachel loves reading, particularly the classics, and has just started Jane Austen's Emma. Her advice to anyone who thinks they don't enjoy reading is "try as many different types of books as possible and you are sure to find one that captures your imagination or particular interest".
Very well done to all our Readers!

Students in 11IAP wanted to help others this Christmas. They collected money in their Christmas tin and Mrs Pring donated money each time they achieved a Gold Tie award, which is the Head of Year commendation.
The students chose a national charity which they knew would help local people too. They have sent a cheque for £50.82p to the Salvation Army. This will provide dinner and companionship for 8 lonely older people this Christmas time. The students are to be praised for a very touching gesture which reflects the true spirit of Christmas.

Students tried something new in their PE lesson just before the Christmas break - Zumba with a difference. The routine was choregraphed by Mrs Taylor using an eclectic mix of rock, pop, soul and reggae music.
Incorporating HipHop with Ballet, Comtemporary dance and Jazz this energetic workout was greatly enjoyed by the students, who found the exercise upbeat and fun.
Zumba with a difference will continue for the next few weeks.

Year 7 and 8 students were invited to come to the Library at lunch time on Monday 14th December for a reading of A Christmas Carol. Lewis Selley and Helen Ballantyne took turns reading an abridged version to an enthralled audience. The library is beautifully decorated for Christmas and was a perfect setting for this classic Christmas story. Look out for many more Pop-Up reading events in the library next term!
